Beatific

I love Ann. She's almost my oldest friend, after Charlie. I've known her since I was mmm 12ish? We became pals the summer of 1990, I was overbearing and she was angst-y in a velvet blazer, Chelsea boots and black kohl-smudged eyes. We made prank phone calls all day everyday.

Now, not only is she a rocking business woman, she's also an extremely talented singer songwriter.

We just shot this of her, for her Itunes debut.

I'm kind of in love with this picture. I've always wanted to shoot Ann, and this is such a great beginning.

Watch this video with the sound OFFF

Camilla: What's wrong with "it"?

Kate: I think it's having a seizure.

Camilla: How does it turn around so fast. I don't even see it?!

Kate: It's gross.

Camilla: We're assholes.

Kate: Are we though?

If I gave you my soul, for a piece of some cheese.

Kate and I like to bugger up lyrics.

The greedy, selfish, piss ants at Sony BMG won't let me embed the video:

Kate and I are fascinating on this era of, pretty much, forgotten music.

It's easy to make fun of, but I'm also inspired by the earnest-ness. And the videos, they were so much about *Hollywood* and *Glamour*, they were so obviously shot on sound stages or took you behind-the-scenes -back in the recording studio. I love it.

Neato.

Winter Wonderland

Yesterday was filled with friends old and new and old/new. Sunday morning - brunch and bloody mary's with sweet friend from out of town. Good food and excellent conversation over red wine and spaghetti with meat balls - cozy, comfortable, goodness!

A dear friend made me this when I told her "Make me something beautiful. Do exactly as I say. Make it just like I would" - and she did :)

Phew.

Yesterday was awesome.

The people at Shoot Digital are incredible. They are SO nice, SO knowledgeable, SO helpful. It was just such an incredible pleasure to shoot there. And the Radar team was just awesome too.

We can explain more once the issue comes out.

In other delayed reaction news.

Here's one of the funny promo shots we did for Heloise and the Savoir Faire. Joe's a turkey.

Shoot you in the face.

I realised recently that the reason I could stay still when holding a rifle and calmly hold my breath as I pulled the trigger, giving myself over to the moment of BANG, was because, truly, there is a strange similarity between shooting a gun and a camera. At least in the body mechanics, the reality of shooting guns is scary to me.

Tomorrow we shoot the cover of Radar's fashion issue. That's all I can say, but it's RAD!(ar). I would love to tell the story of the idea-pitch meeting because it was a great experience and lesson in collaboration, but it has to wait for once the issue comes out. Drat.

One of the cool things about any job or hobby is the community that gets built around it, and even though Kate and I have only been officially in the biz for just under 3 years, we've really felt our presence grow in the community.

Tomorrow's shoot, for instance, is really going to be a family affair. We worked with Greg [the P.D.] before for a feature story for Radar. Then, for this job, he hired Angela to do make up -we just worked with her for the first time a couple months ago on a completely different job and she totally rocks it with an airbrush and some foundation. I even smooched her on set, but with a tissue sandwiched between our lips, I swear, it was very tame and wholesome and all in an effort to get the shot right...

Then! Greg told us we're shooting at Shoot Digital which ROCKS because our best girl Constance is the head of equipment over there -we've been buds since grad school, she's taught me how to surf. THEN, we find out Heath, another dear pal, is going to be our digital tech, how rad is that?

I love it, I love that sort of work environment.

Kiss kiss
