Shoot you in the face.

I realised recently that the reason I could stay still when holding a rifle and calmly hold my breath as I pulled the trigger, giving myself over to the moment of BANG, was because, truly, there is a strange similarity between shooting a gun and a camera. At least in the body mechanics, the reality of shooting guns is scary to me.

Tomorrow we shoot the cover of Radar's fashion issue. That's all I can say, but it's RAD!(ar). I would love to tell the story of the idea-pitch meeting because it was a great experience and lesson in collaboration, but it has to wait for once the issue comes out. Drat.

One of the cool things about any job or hobby is the community that gets built around it, and even though Kate and I have only been officially in the biz for just under 3 years, we've really felt our presence grow in the community.

Tomorrow's shoot, for instance, is really going to be a family affair. We worked with Greg [the P.D.] before for a feature story for Radar. Then, for this job, he hired Angela to do make up -we just worked with her for the first time a couple months ago on a completely different job and she totally rocks it with an airbrush and some foundation. I even smooched her on set, but with a tissue sandwiched between our lips, I swear, it was very tame and wholesome and all in an effort to get the shot right...

Then! Greg told us we're shooting at Shoot Digital which ROCKS because our best girl Constance is the head of equipment over there -we've been buds since grad school, she's taught me how to surf. THEN, we find out Heath, another dear pal, is going to be our digital tech, how rad is that?

I love it, I love that sort of work environment.

Kiss kiss

Happy 2008

Mils.
